French-to-English Translation

Comics Translation

I've always been a big fan of French graphic novels, and so I found it quite natural to dedicate my master's degree to their translation. As a result, I've come to a deep understanding of comics' multiple layers of meaning, and I take a holistic approach encompassing all aspects of comic translation, including the visual accompaniments, the spatial constraints and the inherent meanings imbued in typography choice.

If you are looking to have your comic or graphic work translated, you can be assured you will be getting a translator who has the theoretical background and practical experience to provide you with the most effective translation possible, one that maintains the essence of the French original but is wholly suited for the anglophone market.

Social Media Translation

An important step for comic writers and novelists is showcasing their work on social media, particularly Instagram. Engaging with Instagram users and providing easy-to-digest panels of work is crucial for reaching potential readers.

Hashtags, cultural references and the author's own voice all need to be translated effectively to build relationships and engage potential readers.

With me, you are getting a translator who goes above and beyond to help you develop your accounts in English, including the cultural localization and fan-building that accompanies it.

Humour
Translation

The translator of humour must be creative and witty, as often a simple word-for-word translation is wholly unfunny. In my translations of humour, I strive to reproduce a similar feel as the original, that is, providing the anglophone speaker as much mirth as the original French target audience.

With my keen ear, vast vocabulary and quick mind well-suited for solving puzzles and playing with language, I thrive in finding the perfectly suited, culturally-relevant English equivalent of any jokes and humour in the original French text, be they puns, wordplay, alliterations, rhymes, or any creative use of language.
